Please note that the estimated amount of zakat al-fitrah is $15 per person at a minimum, though we recommend giving $20 per person if you can afford it. Zakat al-fitrah should be set aside or paid before Eid prayer begins. The zakat is payable by the head of household for him or herself and all who are his or her dependents at sunset on the evening of Eid.

Let’s start the Eid Festivities with a warm evening of joy and vibrancy. Recite duas, have Iftar Dinner and socialize with friends. Stalls will be showcasing hijabs, accessories, abayas, clothes, jewelry, and handicrafts.

Souq will open at 5pm & close at 10pm with a break for salat & Iftar.

With the grace of Allah, Eid al-Adha in Chicago will be on Sunday July 10, 2022. This blessed day commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (as) and his family and their total submission to the cause of monotheism. It is customary for believers to perform a sacrifice (qurbani) in emulation of this noble practice. For those who are not performing hajj, this sacrifice is highly recommended but not obligatory.

Baitul Ilm will be hosting a three-day I'tikaf program. During i'tikaf, the worshiper devotes his or her time to worship and does not leave the masjid premises. This year's i'tikaf will start at Fajr on April 29th until sunset on May 1st.

Help us make this Eid special for newly arrived Afghan children by participating in our Eid Toy Drive and Workshop.  Involve your children in purchasing a brand new toy, and bring it to this workshop (unopened and unwrapped) to donate as Eid gifts for Afghan refugee children in Chicagoland.  Children will take part in decorating the gift and making an Eid card.  Our young helpers will receive their own little goodies as "thanks" for their generous act.

Please do not donate unwanted toys at home, donations should be newly purchased and unopened.

On Wednesday March 16th, we will take our Seniors' Club to The Garfield Park Conservatory. It is one of the largest and most stunning botanical conservatories in the nation. Volunteers will drive all participants by car. Cars will depart from Baitul Ilm at 9am and return to Baitul Ilm by Dhuhr time. Participants are requested to pack their own lunch to take with.

Registration for the Lailatul Qadr program on Wednesday May 5 is now open The a'maal will be broadcast and also have limited in-person attendance. Registration is only confirmed after you have received a confirmation email. 

In order to maximize the number of participants for the a'maal, we have 2 registration links.

2. The second registration link is to attend the a'maal only (100 spots)

Registration for the programs during the month of Ramadan are now open. The daily programs will be broadcast online and will also have limited in-person attendance. This year we will also have iftaar after Maghrib & Isha prayers and iftaar will be available to go or to eat in the banquet hall. Registration is only confirmed after you have received a confirmation email. Due to the limited amount of iftaars available we ask community members to only come if they are confirmed for that day. We will not be able to accommodate walk-ins for the iftaar.

• Maghrib & Isha will be performed at the prime time
• Iftaar will be served after the completion of the prayers

Join us to welcome the Ramadan moon and the blessed month of Ramadan. Sheikh Rizwan Arastu will lead youth focused activities centered around welcoming in the month of Ramadan with fun activities and duas. Registration is required and we ask all participants to follow Baitulilm's standard Covid SOPs throughout the program.

Dear Community Members,

Baitulilm will have a Covid Vaccination drive Friday April 2nd from 10am - 2pm. We will administer 500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine Inshallah. The drive will be open to the community at large and will be on a first come first serve basis. As of Monday March 29th Illinois is expanding those eligible to receive a vaccine to Group 1C which includes approximately 85% of the adult population.  If you are eligible we highly encourage you to register.

Group 1 C includes those over the age of 16 with underlying medical conditions, BMI over 30, and workers in the following companies/instituions: Religious organizations, Energy, Finance, Food Service, Higher Education, IT, Legal, Media, Community services, Personal Care services, Public Health/Safety, Retail, Housing, Transportation/Logistics and Water treatment.

Important Note: All registrants will be eligible for the vaccine regardless of insurance status. However, if you have insurance please bring your insurance ID. Also, please bring a photo ID with you for registration purposes.

2. Limited to 30 ladies & girls (healthy with no underlying health conditions).
3. If you or any of your family member is experiencing any headache/cold/flu/cough like symptoms we request, you to PLEASE STAY HOME.
4. Masks required on premises all time, covering mouth and nose properly.
5. Temperature checks before entrance.
6. Perform Wudu at home to limit use of common areas/restrooms.
7. Please refrain from handshaking or hugging.
8. Practice social distancing as much as possible.
